I’ve always loved to travel and explore, but I haven’t always been quite as adventurous as I am today.
The name the girl with the maps actually started long before this blog did. I was always the person with the plan. I wanted to know where we were going, how we were getting there, and what we were doing when we arrived. There was usually a map involved somewhere too.
Then, in 2018, I graduated from university and things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
I didn’t get the “dream job” I thought I wanted and suddenly found myself with very few commitments and no real idea of what I wanted to do next.
So I booked a two-month solo backpacking trip to Indonesia.
It was completely out of character for me at the time, but I packed my backpack, got on the plane, and ended up having one of the best experiences of my life.
That trip changed a lot for me. I realized how much I loved travelling, trying new things, being outside, and doing things that pushed me outside of my comfort zone.
Since then, adventure has become a pretty big part of my life.
I’ve backpacked through countries I once only dreamed of visiting, I’ve hiked some incredible trails abroad and in Canada, and I bought a campervan to spend more time travelling with my dog Nova.
I’ve also learned that you don’t have to be incredibly outdoorsy, spontaneous, or fearless to have these experiences.
I certainly wasn’t when I started.

You can like a good plan and a big adventure.
That’s where the girl with the maps comes in.
This blog is where I share what I’ve learned along the way. You’ll find detailed travel guides, hiking itineraries, honest budgets, packing lists, and the little details I always want to know when I’m planning something new.
My goal is to make it easier for you to get outside, try something new, and plan adventures of your own.
Hopefully, you’ll make some pretty great memories along the way too.
