Magical sunsets, beautiful beaches, rice terraces, amazing yoga, delicious food – Bali has so much to offer but one of my favourite things about this island is the stunning waterfalls.
I travelled in Bali for 2 months in the fall of 2018, so it’s safe to say I did a lot of exploring on the island. There are so many beautiful waterfalls all over Bali, many with amazing hikes through the jungle and beautiful blue lagoons. Sounds amazing right? So you don’t miss a thing, I’ve put together a list of the top 4 waterfalls you must-see in Bali. You might even call these the best waterfalls in Bali! Add these to your Bali bucketlist and enjoy the adventure.
Sekumpal Waterfall
About: This is my favourite waterfall in Bali. It is located in the Northern Region and is easily completed in a day trip from Canggu, Seminyak or Ubud. Sekumpal waterfall is made up of seven different waterfalls, each falling into a beautiful lush jungle. The photos don’t do it justice!
How To Get There: To get to this waterfall, I highly recommend you rent a car and driver for the day because the roads are difficult to drive with many sharp turns that would not be enjoyable on a scooter, especially if you aren’t an experienced driver. To see the waterfall, you can hire a local guide or do the trek yourself. The local guide will offer additional information about the falls. If you’re on a budget, just pay the entrance fee and do it yourself, it’s easy and straightforward. Note that the hike is steep and long. Wear proper foot gear, be prepared to wade through rivers and bring water and snacks. Don’t worry it’s absolutely worth the climb!
Tukad Cepung Waterfall
About: This mystical waterfall and beautiful surrounding area had me feeling as if I was in a magical fairy kingdom. This waterfall is famous for the light rays that stream down making you feel like you’re in another world.
How To Get There: This waterfall is easily reached by scooter. Park up top, pay your entrance fee and start the hike down. Stop along the way to visit the many tiny waterfalls and rivers. Be prepared to wade through water on this hike and don’t forget your swimsuit! For a more peaceful experience, arrive early, if you arrive mid-day you’ll be stuck in the crowds.
Pro Tip: Add this waterfall to a day trip with Tibumana Waterfall (below), they are about 30 minutes away from each other and can easily be seen in one day.
Tibumana Waterfall
About: Can we talk about how perfect this waterfall is? It falls so beautifully into a blue lagoon, surrounded by lush jungle. Again, this is like something straight out of a fairytale. I feel like I’ve been saying that a lot but the truth is, Bali is a magical place!
How To Get There: This waterfall can easily be reached by scooter. Have cash ready to pay your entrance fee on the way down. Bring proper shoes for the hike down and the hike back up. Definitely bring a swimsuit, the lagoon is the perfect place for a refreshing swim. If needed, this waterfall has a nice changing area and lockers you can use for a small donation.
